Based on the banks of the  Swale at Longreach, opposite the Isle of Sheppey, the calm waters of the river offer an ideal opportunity to practice slow speed boat handling yet, just a few minutes downstream, and we're out in the expanse of the Thames estuary and some very challenging water.

The National Powerboat Scheme exists to meet the needs of those who use small, open powerboats for sport or pleasure and also in connection with other associated activities such as diving, water-skiing or fishing.

Rival Sea School has fully qualified instructors who can offer 1 and 2 days courses for Level 1, Level 2 and Safety Boat for the National Powerboat Certificate and International Certificate of Competence.  The aim of these courses are to give powerboat users practical introductions to boat-handling and safety issues, whilst gaining valuable seamanship knowledge.

Level 1  1 Day course, min age 8.  A course designed to provide a practical introduction to boat handling and safety in powerboats.

Level 2 (inc ICC)  2 Day course, min age 12.  A more in-depth course in handling powerboats and seamanship.  On passing this course, you qualify for an International Certificate of Competence.

Intermediate2 Day course, min age 16.  To teach powerboating up to the standard required to complete a short coastal passage by day.

Advanced   2 Day course, min age 17.  To teach boat handling, seamanship, pilotage and navigation up to the standards required to drive a planing powerboat safely by day and night in tidal coastal waters.

The courses are tailor-made to suit your individual requirements and we cater for young, old, able bodied and disabled.

Lunch and refreshments can be provided during the course.
